On September 25th, 1987, Friday night, the Pilot of a new tv show was aired.
That show was
Beauty and the Beast.

Let's celebrate the twenty-sixth anniversary of magic!

A faithful fandom was born that night, and tonight, 26 years after, it's still here, in love with the show, with its characters, its values, its beautiful tale of love and hope, and it stubbornly keeps the Dream alive.

Keeping the Dream alive, 26 years after, can be done in many ways.

A SURVEY
The fandom was born of our love for the show. So, let's celebrate ourselves, and take a little time to re-think about the show, the fandom... and, if you don't mind, this year also about BatBland. Here's a little survey for you. Its goal is to offer you, first of all, the opportunity to look at your heart and how you like to live the Dream and keep it alive.
Celebrate yourself. Then, later on, we will gather the results and share them to have a picture of our collective love for Beauty and the Beast. (Oh, these online tools can be tricky. In case of problems, write to batbland at gmail dot com.)

A TRIBUTE TO OUTSTANDING RECENT FANDOM ACCOMPLISHMENTS
A beautiful and strange coincidence happened last August. At the same time, two gifted artists decided to share the step-by-step creation of two different but extraordinary tributes to our show. We do believe in magic, don't we? Meet here the protagonists of such magical coincidence and their beautiful work.

One of them is a Vincent impersonator, who shared his love for the show and the wonderful process of creating his Vincent persona, the mask, the wig, the clothing...

The other is a talented artist of stained glass, who shared the creation of the commissioned replica of the Vincent Stained Glass Window.

AN ONGOING PROJECT: THE CONZINES
Once upon a time, lots of hardcopy zines were published. In the current Internet times, fanfiction and art are instead shared on the web. But every year, one zine is regularly published and offered at every annual USA convention: the conzine. Today we begin the project of posting the past conzines, in their entirety, starting with the
conzine of the New Orleans 2011 convention, which was a little different as it was offered as a CD. They will find their permanent home in the convention history pages of BatBland, to offer a picture  as complete as possible of the conventions.

AN ONGOING PROJECT: A REPOSITORY FOR THE WORKS OF SOME UNIQUELY TALENTED FANS
Among the many talented fans who added to the B&B Dream with their creativity, a few are really special, because they are not good in one only field, such as writing or art, but in multiple fields. Even fewer, among them, have generously shared online their beautiful works, which in fact are scattered all over the web. We want to provide a repository for these works, slowly gathering them, and in this way to offer a grateful tribute to the talents of some of those fans. The first one? Here's to you,
Rosemarie Hauer.

A NEW PIECE OF FANFICTION, A PUZZLE AND, POSSIBLY, AN INVITATION
Our fandom loves fanfiction, and BatBland loves to promote creativity. So, we are presenting you a brief story. Of course we hope you like it and enjoy it... but not only that. This story has something special, a feature which, if you want, you can try to guess. If you guess it correctly, you'll also know what kind of invitation we are speaking of... Are you intrigued?

... AND, LAST BUT NOT LEAST, A CHALLENGE
The next BatBland celebration to look forward to is January 12, anniversary of the day our dear newbon Vincent was found. Do you want to contribute to the celebration?
Here's a writing challenge for you.
