choosing a title...

Post by 222333 »

Pat - What I am currently reading is Krista's "Providence" which I am enjoying. I find her work to be well written, and the characterization seems true for me. I liked her 'Elysium' also. She's current, so I don't know if you'd want to start with her work, or someone else's.
As I said, "here" we can probably talk of any writers or stories, as only the four of us (Je and me, Zara and Pat) can see this forum for now.

My preferences would be, at least for starter:
- online stories
- good stories
- short stories, or not too long ones, sagas, universes and so on: I'd prefer stories that we can read quickly enough to not delay discussion or need a knowledge of "more", the writer's universe or such.

That works for me! (Krista is out then, as hers tend to be long. :) )

I nominate "Shakespeare," by Midnight Rose.

I think it meets these guidelines. One of the first short fanfic stories I read...simply because I liked the title and the author's pen name. :)

I have read that one, and would happily re-read for discussion.

Sobi? What do you think?

Agreed. I opened a thread dedicated to it, printed it, and going to bed with it...

Good night.

I started a "Blackout" thread here: http://www.batbland.com/phpbb3/viewtopi ... =139#p1139

For new reading...Sobi has suggested "The Sixth Heaven" to me in the past. That might be a nice next stop in the fanfiction tour.

I didn't know if we wanted to try the comparison/contrast of good and less-than-good stories, or not.

Time for breakfast tea,

Zara,

The Sixth Heaven looks like it was a round-robin story. I think I would prefer a story written by one individual.

I'm okay with a contrast.

Oh. It does? I only saw one author listed. Hmm.

Maybe it's me. It just struck me as disjointed.

It might be the writing style/structure. I haven't read it yet. Will take a look.

No, it's one only author, but it's indeed written in a peculiar way. And also the plot is peculiar.

But perhaps we can try a more "normal" story, a romance one as Pat is not the only romance lover here :D

Pat, would you propose a title yourself, as both Zara and I have already taken our turn?

I am also going to say something about Blackout soon, by the way.

I'll give it some thought. But I've mentioned how I inhale fanfics, in one eyeball and out the other!

The other thing that has screwed my up is that it used to be that when I read a story on my iPad, the pdf icon changed from red to grey. Now they are all red and stay that way, so I can't tell which ones I've read and which I haven't. So I guess I'll have to figure out some folder system.

Okay, at long last how about: Keys to the Kingdom by Ginney Shearin
