Whenever you want to tackle Italian, I'm at your disposal Pat. Zara and I started dueling in English, of course (it's the "Writing Duel 1" in this forum). After that first duel, we started an Italian one only because she was studying Italian already, and we had the idea to help her practicing it in this fun way. It's amazing how she can write already in a creative way after only a few months!
I must confess though that B&B in Italian does not quite sound "right". I have been listening to the Italian version for years, but after I got the original version, the dubbed one sounds fake. You probably have met the Italian fan Cecilia Ragaini at the convention Pat. You know, whenever I talked with her about B&B in Italian... something rang wrong. The very sound of the words. Weird, eh?
In my opinion, English, and NYC especially, is a major part of B&B. Which makes me remember that I intended to open a thread about this in the public forum...

While I appreciate your archiving perspective, please delete it. Don't mess up your process due to my misunderstanding.

Wish I had the time to be learning a new language right now, but alas, I do not. Italian is on my bucket list, however!

Yes, you're right about the clean copy. Every tool have their own limits.

I look forward to helping you taming your thick book of Italian verbs.

Pat, let us know if you want me to set another sandbox where to start a new duel. It's fun!

If you don't mind, I won't delete Pat's "pocket knife" contribution to the Lucy's story. I'll just make it red, to remember that it's not to be considered as part of the story, but - bear with me - I'm an archive buff, deleting stuff makes me queasy... :P

En garde...

Personally, I too like editing the clean copy to keep it...well, clean. <smiles> The dates of posts in the drafting section will give us a timeline of the writing process. One thing to keep in mind, of course. The edit-our-clean-copy method will work for us because I made the initial post and you have editing powers as a forum moderator. In 3+ situations, or for duelists who are not mods, this tactic probably will not work the same way. They will need to make a series of posts if they follow our current dueling format.

In any case, I smoothed out the NWD clean copy. I'll try to tune in to Sebastian's character and see what he has to say after so long a hiatus! I have a thick book of Italian verbs now. Let's see how much trouble I can get into using the new reference.

And we'll see what the forum can do for our writing process...

Unsheathing my sword again... en garde!

I have posted a new paragraph in Lucy's tale.
I have also edited the "beer" paragraph following your suggestion.

Tina & Sebastian is your turn, right?
I have posted my bit in the clean copy there.

I noticed that posting the new bits in the "clean" copy via the "edit" button we have a smooth reading, but the date of the post never changes. For me it's okay, what about you?

This format is new for both of us, suggestions for a better experience welcome!

Yay!

Ciao,
S

Me too, dear friend, me too!
Thank you SO much.
I'm sorry I'm off for the day, I wish I could dive in immediately.
Soon.
Be well,
Grazie,
S

Okay, and the Lucy story material is posted too.

I have been missing this...

Shamefully overdue  , but I've finally got the Inverno story posted, with comments, and all the chat logs I could find.

Sorry, too, about the .PDF export is not working properly in Vyew (argh :!: ) and I cannot get the colors to work for all the edits in our draft. But the text is there, to compare with our clean copy.

Working on NWDLucy this evening.

Love,

Zara

*chuckles*

Permissions are the bane of computer-life.

Yes, all is well now. And the categories are good.

What?

Argh! - I had not properly set permissions. Sorry. Can you see the WD 2 and 3 now?

This looks good to me.

Make categories for Writing Duel 2 and 3, and I will continue transplanting.

Lucy and Sebastian have been so patient with us...

So, this is the proposed pattern.
Let me know comments and proposals for changes, both in pattern and, of course, in titles.

Excellent. Then I shall focus upon retrieving our data from Vyew and wait to post it here.

Zara: I have other work I'm in the process of transplanting.

Wait just a little bit, Zara. I am working at organizing the room here, to have categories for the ongoing duels, (Writing Duel 1, 2, 3... ) where to place sub-categories (talks-drafts-clean copy). I asked the help of our dear gabi (no capital, please, she likes the shape of "g"), a Spanish old friend living in Maryland, who founded this forum with Je and me. I am working in a hidden sandbox with her, that's why you possibly see the numbers of topics/posts growing in the bottom stats. I hope to show you a tentative arrangement today, for your consideration and comments. Our "Writing Duel 0" already completed can be left as it is, I think.

As you know, I have plans for September 25, which include both duels and "complete the scene" challenges and who knows what else... and their hub might be very well here in the forum, if we can arrange a friendly and easy way of posting/dueling.

This is a writing duel Sobi and I worked on last fall. A "duel" being a little writing exchange where one person writes a paragraph and then the next person responds with a new paragraph, telling a story by taking turns. The idea is like friendly fencing. We had been working in an online environment called Vyew, but Vyew has been undergoing some odd "upgrades" making it increasingly hard to use (for me too, Sobi, so it's not just you!). So we decided to move our work over to the forum and keep "dueling" here. This first batch of components constitutes a completed story, ready for revisions and rewrites. I have other work I'm in the process of transplanting.

Is it okay with everyone here that everyone can see these texts?

And I'll also take the liberty of asking: Pat and Je, would you like to play too?

Love,

Zara
