The Beauty and the Beast 2003 Convention

Chandler's "Whispering Bridge" miniature.
Before going on with the con, I realize I haven't told you anything about the Art Room, yet. Which is unfair, because it's just wonderful! Art by some of B&B's most outstanding artists, "established" ones as well as astounding "first-timers". Chan and Sandy2 have arranged things beautifully, allowing for a maximum art to be displayed in that not-so-big room. Sorry, no pics allowed, but it's a sight! Drawings, paintings, sculpture, etched crystals, miniatures, and so much more! A true feast for the eyes, and one more demonstration of how wonderfully creative and gifted the fans are! Near the windows, some original costumes from the show are displayed, including Vincent's cloak. Sigh!
Saturday
After breakfast in the Fan drop-in room, we hurry to Teri's and LindaB's Writers Workshop. This is one panel I don't want to miss! After a round of introductions, they explain us how to build the "map" of a story. Primary and secondary conflicts and resolutions, primary and secondary characters, and more. Then they part us into groups. Every group picks one story topic out of a hat, and must build and write a vignette out of it. My group gets lucky, our topic is "Catherine enters Vincent's chamber unexpectedly and finds him napping on his bed" Mmmm! Twenty minutes to plan and write, and then we read our work to the other groups. Good stuff, and a lot of fun!
Then it's the Q&As, with Jamie Murray, Roy Dotrice, Jay Acovone and David Schwartz.

Sorry, you'll have to rely on other con reports for the contents, I was too busy trying to understand everything to take any notes.
A delicious taco buffet, then another round of Q&As starts, this time with Lee Holdridge, composer of the B&B theme. There again I'm afraid you'll have to see other reports for details, I'm only a poor foreigner...Lee has brought gifts for us, autographed sheet music and CDs, that a happy few win.
At one moment, the door opens, and a piano is rolled inside. I just can't believe it! Are we really going to be granted this? Yes! Lee Holdridge sits at the piano, and plays the B&B theme for us! I just can't hold back my tears, and I bet there aren't many dry eyes left in the room. When it's over, there are a few seconds of highly emotional silence, followed by a standing ovation!
Thank you, Deb, for having made that happen!
Another round of autographs, then we have to face a hard choice. Judy Lloyd's Beast Bingo, which I know from last year is a lot of fun, or Lisa Gould's "Make-Up Magic into Vincent" panel. Vincent wins. We sit down and watch Lisa make herself up in front of us. I'm afraid I didn't get all her explanations, especially after she had her teeth on...
