Morning: TBD (and could potentially trade spots with Tuesday Morning activity if desired.)
Evening: The Wizard of Oz musical
The performing arts theater is across the street from the Drury Broadview where we are staying. After dinner, we will walk across the street together and afterward, return in the same manner. You can still get tickets by calling Cheyenne at Musical Theater Wichita (316) 265-3253. Tell her that you are with the “Catherine Goings group” and she will personally take care of your ticket over the phone. $35-50.
Monday, August 1st
Morning: Botanica (Wichita’s botanical gardens) & Honey Tasting
We will arrive at Botanica at 9:30 for our Honey Tasting event. After the event, we are free to roam the beautiful 17 acres of Botanica. Relax in the butterfly house, read a sonnet in the Shakespeare garden, or find the hidden fairy kingdom! $22.50/pp for the event. Wait to pay on this as we need a minimum of 20 people to attend the honey tasting event. If we have less, we will still go to Botanica and just not be a part of the honey tasting. After dinner, around 7ish, feel free to BYOA (Bring your own alcohol) or snacks for a fun event at Paint the Town. We will all follow an instructor in painting our own “masterpieces” that will have a tie-in to Beauty and the Beast! Tuesday, August 2nd
Morning: The Museum of World Treasures
This fascinating and charming, 3-story museum in the heart of Wichita’s downtown has some incredible worldly finds within. So many objects could be found Below! LOTS of reading going on at this museum with back stories and explanations of these historical objects and finds. You will see anything from dinosaurs to Greek statues to breathtaking gemstones to an entire floor dedicated to the miliary and the major wars that have transpired throughout history starting with the Civil War. (I always need a tissue when going through this exhibit.) No need to pay upfront, we will pay individually upon arrival. $10pp for the museum. We’ll get numbers together at the Con.
Evening: Dinner & a Movie = Dinner@themovies
Why not wind down and enjoy a movie together in plush seats with drinks and dinner brought to us via menu?! That’s right, we can order our dinner and have it brought to us right in our seats. Some modern-day conveniences with a whole lot of fun. We will have to decide on a film as we get closer to the date. This one doesn’t really need a sign up as we can buy our tickets a week out or even after the Convention starts. We’ll talk more as we get closer to the Con.
