Add-on Activities

So people can get started planning, here is the add on schedule as best as I can get it at this moment in time. The prices may change a few dollars one way or the other, but these prices are a pretty close ballpark figure. I am not going to buy any tickets until after June 20th, so please get your money in to me by then.

When you send in your money, let me know what tours you are sending money for. The only walking tours are the museum tours and they are inside.  There is some walking involved (about 4 blocks) to get to the boarding place for the cruise and some walking to get to the free shuttle to Mardi Gras World. For those who have trouble walking, I can drive you to the pick up spot.

You can send money to my address:
     Debbie Fowler
     40309 Creekway Cove
     Gonzales, LA 70737

Or by PayPal to anotherlifeanotherdream@yahoo.com

For all tours we will meet in the lobby.  Oak Alley, Super City, and Swamp tours will pick up at the hotel.  For the Natchez dinner cruise, we will walk about 4 blocks to board the boat, but will meet in the lobby, then walk together to the boat.

**Please note that all prices are estimates. Actual price may vary, up or down, by a few dollars.**

Oak Alley Plantation Tour, Thursday July 9, 8:45 am - 2 pm, $40
Feel the gentle breeze of Southern hospitality on a tour that takes you back to the glory of the Old South! Experience a bygone era in one of the South's most beautiful settings, Oak Alley Plantation, built in 1839. Perhaps the most-photographed plantation ever, Oak Alley has been the setting for such motion pictures as "Interview with a Vampire", "Primary Colors" and the wedding of Bo and Hope from the daytime soap opera, "Days of our Lives". Your guided tour will reveal the fascinating stories of the home and its history.

Pat O'Brien's Piano Bar, Saturday, July 11, after the banquet
There's no cover and no minimum at Pat O'Brien's, the inventor of the Huricane (the drink, not the storm).

Café du Monde, Sunday July 12, 10-11 pm, (order from menu)
Coffee and beignets are all they serve at the world-famous Café du Monde, which has been in business since 1862. Try the chicory coffee, a favorite among New Orleans natives.

Carriage ride, Sunday July 12, 11 pm, $12
Tour the French Quarter and get a ride back to the hotel on a mule-drawn carriage. (Mules tolerate the New Orleans weather much better than horses could.)

Super City Tour,  Monday July 14, 9 am - noon, $35
Travel through three centuries of history, legends and romance. Includes historic cemeteries, stories of voodoo and piracy on Bayou St. John. View the longest bridge over water in the world, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway. See the homes of former Kings & Queens of Mardi Gras, stately mansions, the world-famous, exclusive Garden District, and much more.

Mardi Gras World, Monday, July 13, 1:30 - 4:30 pm, $16.25 adults or $12.50 seniors (over 65)
Mardi Gras World is the home of Carnival magic. And the most fun getting there is to cruise the mighty Mississippi River on the Creole Queen, a real New Orleans paddlewheeler. There's only one place where every day is Mardi Gras. Where you can experience all the joy, color, pageantry and magic that are New Orleans' gift to the world. Where you can watch the renowned master sculptors and artists of Blaine Kern Studios create the towering figures, captivating fantasies and brilliantly animated floats that make Mardi Gras the greatest party on earth.

Swamp and Bayou Tour, Tuesday, July 14 10 am - 2:45 pm, $40
After a short motorcoach ride across the Mississippi River, take a fascinating boat trip into the Louisiana Swamps & Bayous. Native guides will reveal the mysteries of the swamps and bayous and the Cajun "joie de vivre". Hear how the Cajuns turned soup into gumbo, the washboard into a musical instrument, and the swamps of Louisiana into a paradise. You will also be treated to a Bayou Nature Wildlife Show by a local naturalist.
